Can I buy or sell any amount of CO2 through Ecotrade ®?
Yes, Ecotrade ® was developed to fulfil the needs of all the installations under the EU-ETS, so we can buy or sell any amount of CO2, even quantities smaller than the usual minimum batch of 1,000 allowances.
Can I buy or sell any amount of CO2 in the European stock markets?
No, the existing stock markets (e.g. Powernext, Nordpool) only accept a minimum batch of 1,000 allowances and in order to optimize the CO2 price, the usual procedure is to trade 10,000 allowances. That is one of the reasons behind the development of Ecotrade®: to guarantee that those installations that want to trade small amounts of CO2 or do not want to pay the subscription fee (about 6,000 euros) can also access the carbon market.
How much is an emission allowance worth?
In the carbon market, as in all other markets, the price is dependant on the supply and demand and can vary during the daily transactions. The opening price, the minimum or maximum price achieved during the session or the closing price can all be used as reference prices. We are here to help you to be updated with this market.
Only the installations under the EU-ETS can trade emission allowances?
No, any single or collective person can trade emission allowances, subject to having an account in one of the 25 existing national registries.
