Joint Implementation (JI)
Joint Implementation (JI) is a mechanism that allows developed country and economy in transition (Annex I countries) governments and private companies to implement emission reduction projects in countries also listed in Annex I and, therefore, also hold greenhouse gas emissions targets under the Kyoto Protocol. This involves the transfer of Emission Reduction Units (ERUs) from the project host country to the investor country.
